Vanished in an instant

My computer crashed early last week. The hard drive started spinning out of control, making a horrible grinding noise. I thought the worst, and it was realized: the hard drive was bad and had to be replaced, and everything that was on there is lost. The last time I had done a major backup was in May, shortly before my first surgery. So, essentially, everything that I've done between the time of my diagnosis and now is vaporized. Luckily, I haven't done much in terms of work; the only files I am mourning are the photos. In some ways though, without an archive, it's like it never happened. It's kind of liberating. I still have the photos posted on the blog and a few others that I'd saved in other places. That's quite enough historical documentation of me on chemo.

There's no radiation today because the machine is broken, and the part doesn't come in until sometime today. Also, I've developed some mild lymphedema in my left arm. Hopefully, because I caught it early, it won't get any worse.

OY - I know how that feels, it's happened to me - we now back up once a week, and we just bought an external hard drive for backup - anyway, hope you didn't lose anything too precious that's irreplacable -
