How I learned to stop worrying and love the steroids
They had me take this steroid, decadron, to go with the anti-nausea meds. I was up from midnight until 6 am. Not obsessing, not really worried about anything. Just wide, wide awake.
Who knew that Iron Chef America is on at 3 am? What a great show! Morimoto battled some young Latin American chef (it was a tie). I'm SO glad I got to see that.
And after my two hours of sleep this morning, I was wide awake again. Still sort of exhausted, but I could not sleep. So I worked! I finished and sent off a StoryDisc project. I started knitting a baby hat for Jason's brand-new nephew. I'll do some cooking. I'm still at this half-manic/half-exhausted stage.
Ok, so, not really. I do not love the steroids. But this is it - no more until next treatment. And tonight, I'll take an Ativan! More drugs - but hopefully it will help bring sleep, sweet, calm sleep. If not, I'm sure you'll all hear me bashing my head against the wall at 3 am in the vicinity of 5th and Vine, and the cops will come and they'll say, but we cleaned out all the homeless people around here, what are you doing here? And I'll say, no, no, I'm not homeless, I'm just bald, and they'll pat me on my bald head and smile.
Jeez, I need sleep.

Wow, I've heard about the effects of steroids, but the picture you painted was so vivid I could almost feel your jitters! Iron Chef is a great show, but I suggest you watch it at 9pm on Sundays like normal people do.
As always, thanks for taking us inside your world.
