Everything helps

On this journey that I’ve found myself on, I feel it’s important to be open to a world of possibilities. In the past week, I’ve tried a number of them. I went to mass with Margaret. I saw a psychotherapist. I continue to meditate, visualize, and visit Jean, the healing touch therapist. And I also went to see a qigong energy healer.

How can I say this? Sometimes, it’s the bad experiences that help us the most. Not to say that the good experiences aren’t helpful; they are. But after seeing the qigong “master,” I realize now how truly wonderful these other methods are at helping with the healing process. I’m sure being hurt helps some people heal. But not me. I prefer the gentler methods. Anyway, I’m not going to go into the details of this somewhat traumatizing experience. Let’s just say it made me realize even more that the more traditional approaches are more my style.

And these approaches are working. I feel it. That pain in my liver has eased, and it felt softer today. My dad, who felt it two weeks ago, felt my abdomen tonight and couldn’t find the edge. I know that this isn’t the same as getting a clean PET scan, but this is amazing progress!! We celebrated tonight (after a long day of packing – we’re moving on Monday). Every day is a celebration.

I’m also really excited about the Novena starting on Sunday night! I think I will meditate from our new balcony, which has a view of the steeple from the shrine of St John Neumann. I will write about what this feels like, to have so many people praying and sending good, healing thoughts my way, all together, all at the same time. It will be powerful, and it will work. It’s already working. Everything helps (even the qigong master).

Peace,
Rachel

Rachel,
13 hours to go and counting. We're all set for the Novena tonight. You sound really good and it's that positive attitude along with all the love, support and prayer from all of us that is going to beat this. We're all with you every step of the way. With love from Baltimore....

I'll be sending New York Jewish prayers your way to accompany the Novena. Keep up your good fight. You're an inspiration for how to get the most out of life. It's a pleasure to join your "army."
