Get your pink ribbons ready

Just kidding! I hate pink ribbons!

However, October IS just around the corner, and everyone knows that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. And my friend Heather and her husband Bryan are throwing an awesome fundraiser at their bike shop in Philadelphia. On Saturday, October 6, Bicycle Revolutions will host a benefit to raise money for breast cancer-related causes in honor of their friend Andrea -- and ME!

For this event, they are asking people to donate original art, crafts, or other similar items, which will then be auctioned or raffled off. All proceeds from the event will be donated to a fund for Andrea's children, or to the Young Survival Coalition.

If you have something that you'd like to donate for the event, let me know or contact Heather and Bryan at the bike shop.

Chemo tomorrow. Still feeling good. Oh - forgot to post this earlier - my tumor markers went down to 734, and my chemistry panel is totally normal. I'm probably healthier than half the people on my block.

I think that the fact that you forgot to post the numbers is a good sign. Clearly they aren't all you're thinking about. You're moving on to living and enjoying. Hooray! I hope the fundraiser is a BIG success.

i totally hear you on the pink ribbons -- even as a survivor sometimes it's overplayed. I try to think about it like this...it helps move breast cancer along by making those who fund research aware of just how big of a problem it is. After all, did anyone know Sept was Prostate Cancer Awareness month? Probably not, and that's got similar statistics (not entirely, but close) to breast cancer.

Hi, a collegue of mine referred me to your blog. I'm an Ovarian Cancer surviver. Glad to see your numbers are good. I'll actually know Brian and will try to make it to Bicycle Revolutions.

Take care...

ps. I also thought Crazy Sexy Cancer was a TERRIBLE title. Cancer is not sexy.
