The good side effects
Now that I'm feeling good, I can take a moment to reflect on the more positive effects of chemotherapy. Here are the top ten:
1. Impressive oral hygiene. I swish with baking soda and warm water after every meal or snack, and then brush (ever so gently) with an extra-soft pink Barbie toothbrush.
2. Nice nails. What better incentive could there be to stop biting my nails than the threat of serious infection or worse if I tear a cuticle?
3. Really quick showers. No shampooing, no shaving, no problem.
4. Easy eyebrow maintenance. As of now, I still have my eyebrows, minus the hairs that I normally would tweeze. They haven't grown back.
5. Naps. How luxurious to take a nap every afternoon!
6. Excellent nutrition. In addition to a weird desire to watch cooking shows all the time, I have been craving only healthy, nutritious food. Specifically, lots of protein and vegetables. My sweet tooth must have been zapped by the chemo. And chocolate? I can't even eat it - it hurts my teeth. So sad.
7. Oh, poop.
So I couldn't come up with ten. I tried.
