Sneezing is awesome

This is exciting because I finally have some good news to report: Dr. Glick, on physical exam, said that he felt that my liver had shrunk about 1 cm! This can be attributed to the Decadron, which is helping with the edema around the tumors, but it also could be totally due to Abraxane - which is what I'd like to think. My liver pain is much less than it was last week, and I feel better in general. The upper chest/sternum pain is gone - I can sneeze with abandon, without any wincing, which is a great feeling. Sneezing is awesome.

The Decadron does have some side effects, such as weight gain and water retention. And acne. But so far, nothing has been too bad. He's going to keep me on it for another two weeks (I get next week off!) because if I'm feeling good, there's no reason to cut it off too quickly. As long as I'm not on it for a long time, I'll be fine. And I think after two weeks, we can start lowering the dose. It's going to get better.

I had chemo today - Abraxane and Avastin - both went in without any problems. My blood counts are good, white counts holding at 7 and hemoglobin at 10. Got another Procrit injection (those hurt!). All in all, it looks pretty good. Everyone at Rowan commented on how much better I looked this week, compared to last. Ah, but I still have my hair and eyebrows and eyelashes. Not for long. I have my hair pulled into a pony tail to keep it from shedding all over the place. The wig did come in today, so the shaving event will happen very soon. At least I have the wig now. I also ordered another one, a bit longer. I'm going to mix it up and confuse people. Next on the list: funky eyeglasses.

Hey Rachel, how about a photo with your "new" hair and funky eyeglasses? You'll probably look like famous star travelling incognito. Can I have your autograph?

Glad to hear things are going well! A gal can never have too many funky glasses, to say nothing of funky wigs.
