A long, long day

When I woke up this morning, I did not think I would make it to the CT by the end of the day. I was nauseous, had a fever over 101, lightheaded. I made my way downstairs but thought I was going to faint, so I just laid down on the sofa until Mom came to save me with some scrambled eggs and sliced apples. I forced myself to drink water because I knew I was dehydrated; Navelbine is dehydrating. Not really good planning, considering I couldn't eat or drink after noon to prepare for the CT. My fever broke around 1 pm and I was a sweaty mess. But, I felt a little better.

We headed over to HUP around 2, and Marie accessed my port and gave me some IV fluids before the MRI scan. That helped a lot. The butt MRI was longer than I'd expected - 25 minutes - so it was clear that I would be late to the CT scan that was across the street in the main hospital building. Crazy. But there was a really nice man who made a bunch of calls and then wheeled me over to the other radiology place. I drank the juicy juice, and by the time the CT was over, I actually felt pretty good.

I don't want to jinx myself but I'm pretty sure I experienced some "tumor flare-up" with the new chemo. This is liver pain caused by tumor dying. And it even seemed that my liver felt a tad smaller today. Carrie examined me too, and seemed to agree. But the CT will be the ultimate judge of that. And the tumor markers. And the liver function tests. All of which I should get back tomorrow. Gulp.

Anyway, it was a long, exhausting day. I made it through.

Rachel, what a tough fight you're engaged in! Thank you for keeping us up to date on your treatment. I, too, liked it better when you had so little to say that blog entries were few and far between. Let's hope you get back to that very quickly!

Love from the Left Coast.
