first dose
Yesterday was a long wait at the doctor's office. I guess most people wait until after the holidays to schedule visits. So we finally got in to see Dr Glick around 2 or 230. My liver is bigger, the bump on my chest is bigger. My nutrition is worse. It's clearly time to switch. He was pleased with my choice and said, This one's gonna work, kiddo. We actually had a real "dialogue" yesterday, and I asked not to have Neulasta because my WBC count was so high (31) and to wait for a couple of weeks and add Neupogen if needed. He said that sounded very reasonable. I also chose to go back on Decadron, but a baby dose of 2 mg a day. Again, he liked that. Then I went back to chemo and they dripped in a whole bunch of decadron, plus I took some oral anti-emetics and anti-nausea pills, and in came the Doxil. No problems. It's an hour infusion. Then the Cytoxan, half hour. Then Procrit shot. We were done around 6 pm, closed down the chemo suite once again. It's a good thing all the nurses are so nice!
We got home and Jason was there with his friend Marcus from Alaska. They went to dinner and Lynn and Nicole came over, so we talked for a while. I love these visits! Make me feel so good.
Today I woke up feeling okay, had a good breakfast, but then started the nausea. I've been in bed most of the day, trying to make some work calls but mostly drifting off. hoping tomorrow will be easier.
More later,
Rachel

Such a battle going on inside your body. Let's hear it for those good, strong meds. I'm with Dr. Glick. This one's going to work, kiddo. Sending love and hugs to help you through this tough time.
Thanks for the complete update, Rachel. I'm really happy that you took an active role in mapping out your treatment. In a situation where so much is outside of your control, it's important to be able to control something -- and you did that today.
Being a patient is rough and I'm sure you'd like to be in any other role, but this is where you are and you're doing the very best you can.
With love,
Mina
